NORTH – EAST GIRL STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (NEGSA) formally came into existence on 28th January, 1998 at 5 pm at the first North East Girl Students Conference held at Handique Girls College.

The formation of NEGSA saw the emergence of a powerful girl student’s force which was determined to fight against secessionist and anti- national activities and work wholeheartedly for restoration of peace and harmony, which is vital for the overall development of the country.

Since its formation, the members of NEGSA has carried out its mission relentlessly to create awareness amongst the general public about the various evils of the Society and mobilize the girl students and women force to build up a healthy and violence free society.......

Aim and Objectives

• To unite all girls student of North –East to work for building bridges of friendship and goodwill amongst all sections of the society.
• To promote a spirit of secularism and national integration, unity in diversity ,pride in Indian ness and induce a sense of communal harmony amongst the youth.
• To create awareness amongst the Youth about existing developmental agencies/organizations working in the field of education and culture, agriculture, social welfare entrepreneurship development, labour, industry/ rural development, tourism, environment
• To mobilize public opinion against social evils and outdated social customs, which are harmful to the society.
• To channelise the youth and student force which can play a powerful role to fight against terrorism and antinational elements.
• To motivate Youth for developing qualities of leadership, character, comradeship and promote a spirit of self-reliance.
• To organize various academic and co-curricular activities for improving the overall atmosphere of the region.
• To establish cordial and friendly relations and make an a out effort to remove the feelings of misunderstanding and hatred amongst the various ethnic groups of North-East.
